MEET GREG

Founder, brewer, music obsessive, flavour chaser.

Born in Paris and raised in New England, Greg was introduced to craft beer in 2014 by his Brother-In-Law and quickly became fascinated by the endless possibilities of flavour. What started as a curiosity about hops and ingredients soon grew into a passion for the brewing process itself. Before entering the brewing industry, Greg spent several years in the music business, first at Stephen Budd Music Management and later as an in-house producer at Overtone Studios in Holborn. That creative background still influences everything he does today, from recipe design and branding to creating memorable experiences around beer.

After moving into hospitality, Greg immersed himself in the UK craft beer scene, eventually brewing alongside a number of local breweries while continuing to learn the craft. His passion for brewing led him to achieve his General Certificate of Brewing through the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers. Today, Big Fella Brewing brings together everything he loves: flavour, creativity, hospitality, and community.

Talus. Soft grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruit, and a little bit weird.

Depends on the day, but a properly fresh Hazy IPA is hard to beat.

For sure Track in the UK. I’d love to brew a beer with New Park Brewing in Connecticut too.

Augustiner Helles, if I’m only drinking one beer, and it’s hot.

Favourite part of brewing?
Tweaking recipes, small changes make big differences.

Favourite smell in a brewery?
I mean, got to be mashing in right?

One thing you'll always find in the taproom?
Good music.

Fish and Chip shop. (My Grandparents and Uncle both owned them)

MEET ALEX

Co-founder, builder, collector of interesting things, and champion of cozy spaces.

Before craft beer took over, Alex owned a landscape gardening company and developed a reputation for creating exceptional outdoor spaces and home bars. What started as projects for customers soon became a passion for creating places people genuinely wanted to spend time in.

His craft beer journey began with Hog's Back Brewery before someone pointed him towards Siren Craft Brew and a bottle of Soundwave. That was the moment the rabbit hole opened. Alongside his wife Emma, Alex spent years visiting taprooms, bottle shops, and independent coffee shops, taking inspiration from the spaces that got it right.

Rather than drinking great beer in industrial estates and car parks, they believed there was room for something warmer, more welcoming, and community-focused. That idea eventually became The Hive.

A reclamation yard where my hoarding finally becomes useful.

WHEN TWO STARS ALIGN

Greg first met Alex during lockdown as a customer searching for good craft beer. What started as a shared appreciation for flavour quickly turned into countless conversations about beer, music, business, branding, and the kind of places they enjoyed spending time in.

Before long, Greg joined The Hive as a manager, working alongside Alex and Emma as the business continued to grow. The pair quickly became close friends, united by a shared belief that great beer is only part of the equation. Atmosphere matters. Community matters. The people around the table matter.

Over the years, ideas were exchanged, plans were made, and the dream of building something together slowly took shape. Big Fella Brewing is the result of that friendship, bringing together Alex's passion for hospitality and creating welcoming spaces with Greg's obsession for flavour, brewing, and creativity.
